I couldn't recommend Salon Riz enough! You walk in and immediately feel like family. Mike, the owner, radiates warmth and kindness. He takes care of everyone around him, staff and customers both, and makes all feel welcome. I've been seeing Lina for years and she is the best, incredible cut and color every single time. If you are looking for a spot on the UWS, Salon Riz is the best of the best, best cut, best color, best staff, best experience, best all around!

I have been going to see Jorél for two years now and he never misses with my hair! Not only is he incredibly gifted at what he does but he always makes me feel so beautiful and refreshed. I am often picky with hair stylist and I feel so lucky to have someone I can trust with my hair. Jorél is the best!

Salon Riz is super cute and the staff is very friendly. ?

This place is amazing…truly an oasis for all of your hairstyling needs. I’ve been coming here for over 7 years and have never been disappointed. Mike runs an incredible operation. His salon has incredible energy as well. His attention to detail ensures your experience will be wonderful. His staff is extremely knowledgeable, patient and accommodating.

This place feels like the heart of the Upper West Side. I've been coming here for years and gotten cuts from many of the stylists. They are always courteous, professional, and do a great job. It's also worth mentioning that this salon has a secret room behind a bookshelf, which is just a cool, classy touch.

This review is for Jorél’s services specifically! He’s an amazing colorist and stylist that acts as a collaborator at every appointment. From bright blonde dye jobs to chopping 6 inches off, he listens to what I want and always offers suggestions when I don’t know what I want. Jorél cares about his clients both on a professional and personal level, which is why he’s the only stylist I trust. I could not recommend him enough! He’s a gem at Salon Riz.

This salon is absolutely unprofessional and discriminatory. I am a past client who was booking with a new stylist because mine was not available for months. The appointment was confirmed by the salon. Hours before my appointment I got a call that they would have to reschedule me with a different stylist because the Stylist I had booked(Jorel) did not cut men’s hair. I did not book a men’s cut, and I do not identify as a male. I was not looking for a typical men’s cut. My hair is 20 inches long and I was looking to add layers to it. This is not a service I would consider a “men’s cut.” It should also be noted that the salon does not offer a “men’s cut.” What was formerly a “men’s cut” is now referred to as a tailored haircut. Again this is not the service I requested and the Salon clearly has no interest in being considerate of gender identities despite marketing their hair services as non-gendered. The salon took it upon themselves to assume my gender based on my name, and refuse me the service I had requested.

This salon is completely unethical and unprofessional. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with snob and attitude. My friend asked for a cut and dye. She wanted her hair to be dyed orange copper and she got a darker cherry color. Then the person dyed my friends hair again and it was still dark cherry. My friend wanted a light orange copper and left with cherry red hair. She left with her hair darker than when she came in. The lady didn’t even admit to her mistakes and redyed her hair leaving it more damaged. She never asked my friend if she wanted bleach to be applied which is considered common sense when working at a salon. If a customer wants their hair lighter you’d ask them if they’d like bleach for a lighter result instead of using developer. Then she didn’t even dry my friends hair and it’s all damaged now. My friends whole shirt and face is covered in dye. My friend spent four hours in there and didn’t even get the result she wanted. And left with darker hair, covered in dye and damaged wet hair. No one even stepped in to help out or anything. Completely unethical and not professional at all. Also, they told us they were going to call back to resolve the issue but then never did. Hence why I am leaving this review

First time getting my hair cut here. I arrived a little early and was offered coffee, tea, water and pastries while waiting for Mike to cut my hair.

The salon is very chill and nobody seemed to be stressed out or have an attitude. When I walked in, the receptionist was very pleasant. Shampoo girl was very nice too.

Mike asked me questions about how I usually wear my hair and how I wanted it cut. He also asked me before cutting it too short which I appreciated. I was very happy with the haircut and recommend Salon Riz.
